Newspaper chair - The Chatter Chair

This furniture piece was inspired from paperfolding/origami, particularly the chatterbox (origami).

Through weeks of experimentation and testing, a strong and ergonomical structure was developed, along with the success of making newspaper into a solid form.  The structure was made from plywood and thenewspaper was created by using PVA glue, folding and compression. Newspaper was recycled from 'MX newspaper' as these were given out on a daily basis in the Brisbane CBD. A total of 1500 Mx Newspapers were utilised in this project. Also, a custom made compressing system was created to cater for the newspaper in order for them to all be equally sized. The chatter chair was greatly admired by the universtiy staff, students and the general public. The chair was featured in an article in the Mx Newspaper and was displayed in Mx headquaters all around Australia.
